What this site is

A reference guide, not a booking engine

CedarPointx collects hotel information so you can compare places before you contact anyone. We do not take payments, hold rooms or show prices that could be out of date. You see what a hotel offers and where it is, then you reserve with the hotel itself.

Organised by place

Every hotel sits under its region and city. Start with the whole country, narrow to a region, or open a city page such as London or Edinburgh.

Details that matter

Star category, property type, facilities such as pool, parking, Wi-Fi or dog-friendly rooms, room types, the nearest airport and the hotel's own phone number.

Straight to the source

When a hotel runs its own website, our button sends you there for rates and availability. No middleman, no sign-up and no fees added by us.

The UK by region

Thirteen ways to read the map

Britain is compact, but each region has its own character and its own busy weeks. Choose a region first; the best base depends on what you came for.

London

The capital is the starting point for most trips: world-class museums, theatres and markets, five airports and rail terminals that fan out across the country. Hotels cluster around Westminster, the West End, the City and the Thames, with quieter options in Kensington, Paddington and the outer boroughs.

Start from the kind of trip

Where to base yourself

Different trips call for different hotels. These shortcuts jump to the city pages that suit each style.

Capital and big-city breaks

Hotels close to museums, theatres and rail stations. City-centre parking is often an extra cost, so check before you drive in.

Historic towns and cathedral cities

Walled streets, minsters and university colleges, best on foot. They are busiest at weekends and in the run-up to Christmas.

Hadrian's Wall and the North

Bases for the National Trail and for the Northumberland coast, from the Tyne to the Solway Firth.

Coast and country

Seaside resorts and market towns. Summer is the main season; the shoulder months are calmer and cheaper.

Questions

Good to know before you start

Does CedarPointx sell hotel rooms?

No. CedarPointx is an information guide. It shows what each hotel offers and how to reach it, but it does not take bookings or payments and shows no live prices. If a hotel has a website of its own in our data, the button on its page opens it; otherwise the button opens the map.

Where do the photos and descriptions come from?

From the Hotelbeds hotel catalogue. The texts are in English and describe the property as it was supplied to the catalogue, so rooms, services and opening dates can have changed. Confirm anything important with the hotel before you travel.

What do the star ratings mean?

The stars shown are the category recorded in the hotel catalogue. In the UK, star grades are awarded by schemes such as VisitBritain, VisitScotland and the AA, and not every hotel takes part, so treat stars as a rough guide and compare facilities, location and recent guest feedback as well.

Are VAT and fees included in hotel rates?

UK hotels normally quote room rates including 20% VAT, but corporate and some online rates are shown without it. Parking, breakfast, dogs and extra guests are often charged separately, and a few places add a visitor levy. Ask for the full total before you book.

Is there a hotel near Hadrian's Wall?

Yes. The catalogue marks hotels close to the Wall between Newcastle and Carlisle; open Filters and choose “Near Hadrian's Wall”, or read our Hadrian's Wall guide.

How far ahead should I book?

For the Edinburgh festivals in August, school holidays on the coast and December in York, Bath and London, book as early as you can. In towns on the Wall Path, rooms are few in the summer months. Our seasons guide has more.
